Bike Shop

Thanks to a grant from the  in 2015, the NIC Bike Lab located in the McLain Hall Outdoor Center has professional-quality tools that you might find in the nicest bike shops out there. We offer bike programming and services at little or no cost to NIC students, employees, and the community.

Our staff can help you prepare for your next cycling adventure, tell you about the biking opportunities we offer, and provide you with information about the many bike trails and routes throughout the Coeur d’Alene area.

We focus on student success and community engagement, so we guide you through repairs and tuning, rather than fix your bike for you.

If you are looking for a shop that offers repair services, check out a couple of local bike shops in the area:

Our dynamic schedule sometimes take us out of the office. Call (208) 769-7809 or stop by to set up an appointment before bringing a bike in for a big project. If you’re just looking for some air in the tires, swing by.

Bike Education

Is bike maintenance on your bucket list this year? Interested in learning the parts, tools and skills that go into maintaining your bike?

Our maintenance classes are designed for the enthusiast or weekend warrior:

ABCs of Bike Maintenance
One-hour clinics that teach basic bike maintenance. The ABCs, Air (tires, tubes), Brakes, and Chain (all parts of the drivetrain) focus on a specific part or system of the bike. Our head bike guru, Terry Brinton, breaks down the pieces of the bike into understandable terms to help the first-timer better understand their bike. These clinics provide a gateway to feeling self-sufficient when minor bike issues arise. Give us a call to set up an appointment to learn any of the ABCs throughout the year.
